I Found Advice In A Strange Place
It's 9:40 AM on Tuesday, the 20th of January, as I write this. I have a job interview in 20 minutes.
Last night, I had the mother of all migraines keep me awake. I was sweating, had intense neck and temple pain, sensitive to light and the smallest sound. And then it dawned on me: I forgot to take my new migraine meds before bed. It wasn't just a migraine; it was early withdrawal. I'm still getting used to this new routine of twice a day. I went upstairs at 3 AM and took them with a couple of Advil and said hello to the cats snoozing on the couch. The boy cat, Prince, followed me downstairs and cuddled for an hour, helping me fall asleep as the drugs kicked in.
This morning, I am not in top form.
I'm sitting at my desk, computer in front of me, coffee in hand, wondering how this will go, and I look down at my phone.
“Staff Designer Behaviour Interview w/Spencer” is truncated into a preview on my phone that just says “Be…Pencer.”
Be 'Pencer. Just be yourself. Despite it all, be honest, hold to your principles, and do your best. Sometimes the advice you need can come from the strangest places. And right now, that was the reminder I needed.
Thanks, Phone.
