❌ Stop normalizing buying and selling people's personal info
I’ve had to go to real lengths to keep my personal phone number off the internet.
I don’t want it on sales lists. I don’t want it in databases that exist to make me “reachable.”
And yet companies make entire fortunes scraping and selling people's private info without their consent.
I don’t get it. Maybe it's my neurodiversity talking, but cold outreach just feels inherently hostile. An interruption at best, a violation at worst.
Especially when it’s built on scraped data I never gave you.
So yeah—I put disclaimers in my profiles telling people not to solicit me, as well as utilized services like DeleteMe.cause having my info isn’t the same as having my permission.
Is it just me? Or is this practice long overdue for a reckoning?
